Loni Johnson, CMT, CD
I attended Lake Superior College for the 600 hour comprehensive massage therapy program. The program outlined anatomy, pathology, business and more. It also focused on 9 types of massage including: relaxation, deep tissue, somatics, lymphatics, geriatrics, pregnancy, Swedish, mother-baby, and chair. I graduated from the class August 2001.
My goal is to provide personalized and therapeutic massage for people seeking relaxation and relief from their unique stressors and traumas of everyday life. Also to provide this service in a comfortable and professional environment. By taking continuing education courses, I am working at learning different techniques as well as better ways to serve my clients. Classes I have taken include: Hot Stone Therapy (Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies), Muscle Restore Technique (Cross Country Education), Myofascial Release (Cross Country Education), Pharmacology for Massage (Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies), Sports Massage (Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies), Kinesio Taping Fundamentals & Advanced (Kinesio Taping Association), Fertility Massage (Institute of Somatic Therapy), Holistic Nutrition (AFPA), and becoming a Certified Doula (Childbirth International).
I chose to do massage therapy because I have had back issues (scoliosis) my whole life and I wanted to help others be able to deal with their pain and discomforts and get relief in a healthy and positive way. As I grew in my faith, I became more aware to the type of massage I was doing and am able to focus on each client's needs more. It is such a blessing to be able to help others focus on relaxation and being able to help with relief of stressors that our bodies can take on. Not only do I enjoy getting massages, but absolutely love my job doing it!
A second passion of mine has become nutrition and wellness. I have been working with women and families through their pregnancies as well as women with cycle issues. This has also begun my journey further into health and wellness. I have completed the Holistic Nutrition course through AFPA (American Fitness Professionals & Associates), and have enjoyed learning more about how much food affects our bodies and what we can do to provide better nutrition for ourselves. Wellness can come in different waves for people. Nutrition and massage are both beneficial in a persons health journey. I am thankful to have an understanding of both and look forward to working with you on your wellness journey!
